Chamber Happenings
Pictured below are our 2009 Community Awards Winners: Tony Moore - Citizen of the Year, Tim Avery of East Carolina Trophies and Signs - Business of the Year, Bonnie Harrell - Outstanding Youth Award, Angela Greene - Outstanding Educator and David Hooks - Outstanding Public Servant. Congratulations to all of our winners.

On August 15, the Winterville Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting for TRAC Enrichment located at 154-A Beacon Drive in Winterville. Ms. Evelyn Holmes is the founder and chief executive officer. TRAC stands for Tutoring Resources and Consulting and is a non-profit organization that provides tutorial services for students in grades K-8.

On September 1, the Winterville Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting for Verde Spa located at 610 Old Tar Road. Verde is owned and operated by Tracie Durrett and her husband,Brad Durrett. They specialize in different types of facials that maximize the skin's glow and youthfulness. Verde also offers a variety of other spa services such as massage, laser hair removal, waxing and teeth whitening.

In August, the Chamber of Commerce was a sponsor of the Winterville Watermelon Festival. The festival is held the last weekend in August. In 2010, we will be celebrating our 25th Watermelon Festival. Pictured are our Town Aldermen and Alderwoman as they cut the ceremonial first watermelon of the festival.

At the end of August, the Winterville Chamber of Commerce served breakfast to all the returning teachers and staff of the Winterville Schools. The schools served were Ridgewood, Creekside, W. H. Robinson, A. G. Cox and South Central High School. Pictured are four of our hostesses: Bern Gibson, Cindy Spargur, Debbie Avery, and Laura McKeel-Gladson.

On October 19, Mr. Tony Moore and the NC Driving School hosted our quarterly Business After Hours. The event was attended by between 75-80 members. We thank Mr. Moore for hosting this event.

The Chamber's Christmas party will be held on Thursday, Dec. 17 at 5:30 at Wimpie's. Mark your calendars and make plans to attend.

In December the Chamber held a Ribbon Cutting for our newest member, Pete's Wycked Grill located at 4125 A Old Tar Road in Winterville. It is owned and operated by Mr. Peter Heffley. |
